Because there are many fans for those books so the Hollywood people believe they can make a ton of money off a cheap @ss movie! I hate reading a really good book and then seeing the Hollywood version of it! The Hollywood Version has almost nothing to do with the book! D=

They either remake films or make some crappy book into a movie. No inventiveness these days. Thats why all the unique movies do well

They probably are. Today’s movie and television writers wouldn’t know good writing if it raped them. For example, the new writers of Spongebob, and the people who made the Geico caveman TV show.

It could be that they are running out of original idea. It could also be that after Harry Potter, most directors realized that a well established book would have a lot of fans, which means if a movie comes about it the hype would be overhyped if the movie is made. In which case a lot of poeple would come see the movie. Like the other guy said easy money with not a lot of marketing.

I have no idea, they are making the books seem like crap aren’t they? They are probably trying to make money by trying to make the fans happy. It hardly works though.
