In 2007 the British film Death at a Funeral was released. Later in 2010 an American version of this popular film was released. If you enjoy a good laugh and are looking to see a new comedic film then this is a great choice for you. In order to determine if it is the right fit for you there are some facts that you should know.
The films both center around the same basic overall them which is that of two bothers who are burying their father. The two brothers have very different lives with one being very wealthy and successful and the other still living at home with their parents, even though he is married. Arguments ensue over the expense of the funeral and the wealthier brothers lack of obligation in helping with the expenses.
In the British version of the film one of the brothers lives with his father with his wife. He has wanted to buy his own flat so he has some money saved. The other brother is very wealthy but rather selfish and does not feel any responsibility to bury his father.
There are some crazy events in the British version of the film like a cousins husband who is accidentally given a drug that causes hallucinations and a dwarf who no one knows that wants to talk to one of the brothers. Basically the dwarf was their fathers lover and he is looking to profit off of his relationship.
The two brothers try to avoid this and give him the drug that causes hallucinations as well since they think that it is really Valium. The dwarf goes crazy, jumping on a couch, falling and hitting his head on a coffee table. When they think that he is dead they put him in the casket with their dead father. This is one of the zany things that makes Death at a Funeral so funny.
Death at a Funeral, the American version, is pretty much the same plot line except for the fact that the poor brother has children. Both films share the same wacky comedy and highlight the same amount of drama.
The hilarious films have had popularity in both Great Britain and America. Part of this could be because the leading men are popular actors in both countries. Matthew Macfadyen and Rupert Graves star in the leading roles in the British version. The same roles are played by Chris Rock and Martin Lawrence in the American version.

It is very hard to deny the indie film circuit as not only being very rich but sometimes overlooked. A very popular genre that rears it’s head within this circuit is the documentary film. So many film professionals view such films as really nice tools for shedding light on little known or even considered truths. We will be taking a look at an indie documentary movie called “Countdown to Zero”.
The most popular documentaries all have a very eye catching and appealing theme behind theme. This film is no different as it deals with the possible threat of nuclear disaster. The film examines the theme that even though the cold war is over, we are always at some very real threat level when it comes to nuclear devastation. A lot of people are calling this film a wake up call.
Any great documentary will feature plenty of interview footage from well respected professionals that can give an insight into the topic covered. This film is no different and it has plenty of interview footage with very prominent professionals. There are famous world leaders such as Tony Blair featured. Most people have seen a movie called Forgetting Sarah Marshal, and Get Him To The Greek is the sequel to that movie. With most of the same characters and the goofy tone, it may even seem like its a continuation of the movie. The only thing that has changed is the storyline and the role of the people in the movie. For a funny and fast paced movie, this one has it all.
The film works well because it constantly changes back and forth from scene to scene. Viewers can follow the lives of a few different people and begin to see how each world ties together. The quick scene flashes, mean that views do not have to get caught up in a drama but rather a quick well written comedy.
The funny view points of the guys in the film are realistic and will have people laughing based on true facts. The way they handle and manage situations and conflicts is just funny and feature fresh jokes.
The title is catchy and will draw people in to see the movie just based on it alone. When the title is heard at first, people begin to imagine what it could mean. It almost sounds like someone is being taken to a Greek person, and then you may wonder why and what may be happening. However, it is actually about getting someone to a Greek venue to play music.
Short scenes and funny plots are key to helping this movie be such a well loved hit. Most people like watching a movie that contains fast paced movie action and this movie contains just this. With the camera shots jumping from one plot to the next, it is great to see that the adventure comes together in the end.
The main people in the film have to combat obstacles in their way as they learn about themselves. One person loses his family when he takes up drinking and drugs, through is lessons he learns what is important to him and how to win his loved one back again. He develops his band into something amazing and has to get to the Greek music place to play a concert.
The other main person in the film has his own battles to deal with, stemming from relationship to job issues. Together they try to achieve a few goals while embarking on an adventure that seems to take them all over the place. It seems that whatever they do, they are not safe from things going wrong and embarrassing moments.
Like all light comedies, the story ends on a good note, where both main stars eventually achieve what they were ultimately after. And even though it seems that each person would never get to the final point in the film, Get Him To The Greek ends on a happy note. Leaving not only the stars happy, but also the fans watching it.
