The Manchurian Candidate – A modern day version of the 1962 film. Decorated war hero Raymond Shaw is now in place to become the Vice President of the US. His Mother, Senator Eleanor Shaw is pulling all the political strings. A problem is developing for her plans. Major Bennett Marco, a member of Raymond’s platoon is starting to mistrust the events of the day Raymond saved the platoon. Marco is battling an uphill battle, but cannot resist the niggling impression that something is not right.
South Sea Women – Dark island storyline of love and deception with Cadet Lancaster kindling the fire with Mayo. Cast includes Burt Lancaster, Virginia Mayo, Chuck Connors, Arthur Guards, and Paul Burke. (99 minutes, 1953)
House of the Black Death – Wizard keeps individuals prisoner in a terrifying older home; awfully dragged out, poor grade stuff. Cast includes Lon Chaney, Jr., John Carradine, Andrea King, and Tom Drake. (80 minutes, 1965)
The Devil Wears Prada – Miranda Priestly( Meryl Streep) is the influential force in the fashion industry. When, Andrea Sachs, played by Anne Hathaway. by pure luck, falls into a job as Miranda’s assistant, she seems to have the chance of a lifetime. Working for the intolerable Miranda proves to be horrendous, no matter what the rewards might be.
Macabre – Odd goings on in smaIl town where a doctor’s young daughter bafflingly disappears and a anonymous telephone caller declares that the kid has been buried alive. Cast includes William Prince, Jim Backus, Christine White, and Jacqueline Scott. (73 minutes, 1958)
The General – One of Keaton’s most excellent silent movies, setting comedy divergent to real Civil Battle story of a stolen train, and Union spies. Not as bizarre as other Keaton films, though wonderfully finished. Cast includes Buster Keaton, Marion Mack, Glen Cavender, Jim Farley, and Joseph Keaton. (100 minutes, 1984)
