Epidemic of suicides in the cotton belt of India involving 100 000 farmers between 1993-2003, and a further 16 000 farmers a year have died since Y? becuase they cant afford the GMO seeds. And the market has been monopolized by huge corporations like Monsanto
Dude……You are very misinformed about gmo crops obviously. They do not require less water. What are you? a Monsanto spokesman? And most of the food grown in America IS shipped overseas. do some research man.
YES here is some one with a god damn right idea,it is not the GMO crops killing up it is the overly prossesed food that contains massive amounts of salt and sugars increasing the amount of diabetes in our country
That’s far from the truth, third world countries aren’t taking in our goods, we send them aid here and there but it doesn’t amount to much, we are letting them fend for them selves, growing and processed their own food, and as my point above state they don’t have the money for pesticide, drought, herbicide resistant crops. And don’t say they require more water they actually require less there for rudcing the strain on there already fragile water supply.
the food is grown, handpicked, processed, and shipped halfway around the world and is sold for a dollar a pound. the average american is too ignorant to know they’re pigs eating the toil of the poor!
No you didnt say that. But where do you think food supplies come from that are sent to third world countries? first world countries!! gmo crops also need more water to be sustained than conventional crops which puts an even stronger stress on the already lacking infrastructures of 3rd world countries. maybe were are arguing the same point though. I am not a proponent of of gmo crops.
I didn’t say there was famine in the US I said there was famine in third world countries were these GMO crops are to expensive to be bought, and since most of there plants are killed by drought, pest, and weeds all pest that are easily avoided by GMO crops it is proof of what would happen if we decided that we no longer need GMO crops!
May I ask you were your evidence that these companies are destroying the enviorment is? And why would they not want to make a profit they are a buiesness like any other and therefore need to make money to stay in buiesness, i am pretty sure that if you had half a mind you could see why they need to make a profit
American farmers produce so much food each year millions of tons end up rotting… and yet there is still famine all around the world. there is no food shortage.. just politics and bureaucracy.
This is all a bunch of lies, how many of you who are complaining about what these crops are doing to us have ever been to Africa, how many of you have seem the diseases caused by the lack of food? And what is the cause of their famine? well the fact is our world cant support a population of six billion on just natural grown foods, and third world countries are a perfect depiction of this they cant afford the seeds keeping their crops alive while their plants are destroyed by pest, weeds, drought
you are right but the sad truth is that “the powers that be” dont care if people get sick (ie diabetes, high b/p, etc.) because sickness is putting money into the pharmaceutical company’s pockets…diseases can be managed and cured naturally but they will never push that agenda because they are all about the “almighty dollar”…sad, sick and true
Exactly. This whole sustainability of food supply, though wonderful for meeting HUMAN demands, is killing the sustainability of the planet! There won’t be anything to sustain if we resume our current trends of mass consumerism and mass waste production that results from all this. There wouldn’t be need for 40 million farmers if people stopped wasting food, over buying and over eating.
I’ve always been concerned about the use of growth hormones, pesticides, sweetners, trans-fats. Meats have added sodium. Milk has hormones. Water has estrogen and other steroid compounds. Fish has mercury and PCBs. So many household products are carcinogenic! All these things increase the rate of cancer and diabetes, and just overall health! I can’t sleep on my pillow without increasing the chance of getting cancer!! It’s ridiculous.
Alteast this is raising wareness about some issues.
I’ve heard this before… “If you don’t like it, get out.” Lucky for everyone on the planet who has a plot of land, they don’t need to “get out.” Buddy, I don’t need to find another country with safer food. I just need to look at my own backyard. And as for your “facts”, citation or it’s just numbers out your butt.
By all means, enlighten me. Comments like these are waste of your and my time.

i’m under the impression that some gmo plants help the poor more because they’re drought resistance, etc. better ensuring a harvest
